A long tressed Gypsy with a wild look, for the Cinema he is a Lost Boy or a rebellious Indian (War Party). In reality
Billy Wirth is a New Yorker of middle class, lover of billiards, peanut butter and sport cars. War Party, (Festivity of War), tells the history of the day, young people and the continuous clashes and skirmishes with the white men of Binger (Montana) to the borders of Canada.
In the attempt to raise money for the community, the inhabitants of Binger decide to revive the well known struggles of the Indians, for the joy of the tourists, the famous battle between the Indians and the Calvary of the United States. What was to be a commemoration day transforms into a nightmare when, to the unexpected one, the ammunitions that were to be blank were real and the rubber of the tomahawk is replaced by sharp steel.
And with dead on both sides of the battle field, once again the Indians, like their forefathers are forced to travel again over the escape paths. With the difference that today they are hounded by the army, from the infuriated citizens of Binger, the journalists and bounty hunters. Main principals of War Party: Kevin Dillon, brother of Matt, and Billy Wirth, 27, a promising young person of the American Cinema from Los Angeles.
(Translation of this interview in a Q & A format)
Q: Billy, where are you from?
A: "New York, Manhattan".
Q:What is it like to grow up in New York"
A: "It is a place where there is always something happening. Cinema, theatres, Central Park, the Village. New York is a city unique to the world. We lived on the borders of the Spanish quarter. Fantastic, down from where I lived there was a sports field where I learned to play baseball."
Q: What did you learn from the streets of New York?
A:"To understand where the danger was. As a child you must be on guard all the time. I was fortunate as I went to a private school and in the summers we traveled in America or Europe".
Q: What do you parents do?
A: "My father is a lawyer, while my mother is an artist".
Q: Do you have brothers or sisters?
A:"I have an older brother who works on Wall Street. I also have a younger brother. It would appeal to me that he would work on a film that I am producing. I am working on a modern day Oliver Twist and have Lou Gossett Jr. signed on for one of the main parts."
Q: We speak of War Party, a little?
A: "I met Kevin Dillon one week before starting the movie. It was my first part principal role and I was truly nervous. With Kevin, we found that we got along very well together and it gave me great comfort. Then to be in Montana for three months was fantastic, I met a tribe of Indian Black Feet".
Q: You have Indian blood?
A: "Yes, my great-grandfather married and Indian. My mother is trying to go back to the origins of the wedding".
Billy says" it so helpful to get in tune with the horse with the other Indians, to speak with them and live with them. As an example I have noticed that the Indian BlackFeet have a strange accent of probable Canadian influence but in the film I did not use the accent?"
Q: Do you know the meaning of the signs painted on the faces?
A:"Yes. An old Indian woman has explained them. The colors have meaning for every tribe. There were some Black Feet that told us what to use."
Q:Your biography says that you are a very good athlete? Is this true?
Q: What about your private life? Do you have a house?
A: "Currently, I divide an apartment with two friends. It is small but it's on a hill that overlooks the city. Nobody ever cooked until the other day. We had to clean up for approximately six hours and the place is immaculate. Fantastic feeling. I usually eat out. In the morning I make breakfast with latte and cereal and peanut butter. I go to a lot of barbecues, organized by others, naturally".
Q:What kind of car do you have?
A:"I had a '64 Ford Galaxy but it died. I bought a used Camaro from a friend."
Q:What do you do in your free time?
A:"Play billiards".
Q:Have you always had long hair or is only for the part in this film?
A:"I have had long hair for about four years. For a film I had to cut it like the marines. When I was a little boy I would be in despair when my dad would drag me to the barber. I am hoping that I do not have to get it cut again".
Q:What is in your future?
A:"There is a script that I am writing and also negotiations for one history film and one part of a rockstar. I would like to write more".
Q:On the subject of love, what attracts you to a woman?
A:"The eyes, the gentility. In love the thing that counts more is what you have within?".
Q:Who would you want to work with?
A:"Meryl Streep. There is something magical about her".
Q:What advice would you give a friend who wanted to become an actor?
A:"Try to get involved in every aspect of the business. To have the courage to refuse jobs that do not adapt to ones personality."
